Often someone says, "How dumb can you get!" Then they smirk, and add, "And I don't mean that as a challenge."
But, more concerning to me is, "How dumb do you think we are?"
Just today I read an article where Bill Gates reportedly says that in ten years we will be able to have a two-day work week, and retire early.
Now, I'm not picking on Bill Gates ...there are many people working to hopefully achieve this end ...in their world, but not mine.
It is just that in the news, it is showing Bill as today's spokesperson for (AI) Artificial Intelligence.
I don't follow many of these social media platforms, but when I looked up responses to this, I found many comments on Reddit. And I don't know about Reddit, though one site said Reddit leans absurdly liberal ...yet, that may have just been an anti-liberal comment. Yet again, I did see many comments on site that viewed the supposed Bill Gates comment as absurd.
They were thinking in the same way I was ...which may be scary, but less scary than if they are thinking like those who may not be as dumb as I look, but on the other hand, who think we are dumb enough not to question it.
And whether Reddit, or just my dumb self ...we are not that dumb. And we have serious questions that have not been addressed at this early posting of comments on the article. Yet, after reading some of our comments, perhaps they will come up with an answer.
Why do I think the answer may also be absurd!?!
But first, I am not so dumb that I forgot to tell you what the question is ...or questions are. I was just attempting to use dramatic effect here.
Yes, one question is who have made the most profits from the automation that has so far replaced human jobs? If I'm working for on the assembly line of a car manufacturer, and a machine takes over my job so I am no longer needed ....do I still get paid??
Artificial flowers don't have to get watered, so with Artificial Intelligence perhaps we don't need to get paid.
And who profits from a machine or robot taking my place ...me or the company??
What would be my salary or weekly paycheck if I worked only two days every week??
And early retirement was also mentioned. Who would pay what I feel would meet my needs in retirement??
So, working only 8 days every month ...what would my retirement look like?
And with all that spare time, and the insatiable desire for money ....I'd guess crime would increase. And how would community services be funded ...like hospitals, police, paramedics, and fire departments??
Presently, I pay taxes to contribute to those services ...yet, taxing my monthly 8-day salary, how good would those services be??
Yet again, this same person supporting Artificial Intelligence (AI) as our solution for the future ...says that hospitals could utilize AI, and also teachers could be replaced by AI.
Replacing teachers by AI?? Yes, that was said ...and you didn't even have to "wait for it, wait for it" for that absurd comment to enter the fray.
I don't agree with all aspects of 'less is more' ...but, I don't always agree that more is better either, especially if it is more wrong.
Well, I have to go for now ...I have to do the laundry, and let the dog out. I don't have a robot to do those things, and I don't want one either. I just hope that when I go do those things, the robot doesn't hack into my blog and begin writing it.
After all, I have little control over that ...as these tech companies can do most anything they want in some respects. And I doubt I will be able to voice my opinion strong enough to thwart AI from proceeding. I've already been censored many times for giving my respectful opinion.
And ...oh yes, I believe in God.
